An exquisite long Antique late Victorian guard chain made up of fabulous 9ct Yellow Gold snake links which are interchanged with larger faceted links engraved with beautiful scrolling patterns.

The chain is complete with a large trigger clasp at the end which may have been used to attach a pocket watch or a cylinder of fur known as a Muff to keep the wearers hands warm in winter.

Each chain link has developed a lovely smoothness with age and articulate beautifully together. It is truly wonderful and can be worn as one long chain or wrapped 2-3 times around the neck.
